For My Boy~

This post at Incourage has rocked my mom heart. It's the most powerful mom post I’ve read lately. Anything about parenting growing, young adult children gets to my soul. Being a mom to young adults, such a strange dichotomy. Parenting your children that are now mini adults…they need you, but they don’t. They want you in their life, but they want their space. They want wings and they want dinner and laundry still done for them (who doesn’t? J )

~Timothy, such a sweet brother~

A gave a letter to my daughters a few months ago and always wanted to put a similar one into words for my boy..my boy that made me a mommy at 22 yrs old! So here are some words I'm borrowing but never the less come from the heart! (borrowed from InCourage)

The Bible’s true, son. Every infallible, sword-sharp,
breathing word of it.
And the only life living is the scandalous one: scandalous love,
offensive mercy, foolish faith. Always have one friend that feels on the fringe, that you have to pray to love, that makes the neighbors scratch their heads.
Stubbornly pray for your enemies till you see enemies are
illusions and everyone is a friend and somehow grace.
Believe in every woman’s God-sized dreams.
And rub her feet at the end of the day.
Be the kind of person who apologizes first because that’s the only way happiness can last.
And never forget that happiness is when His Word and your walk are in harmony. Never stop keeping company with Christ– and all the sinners, tax-collectors and cast-offs. Be an evangelist and use your words with your hands because your part of a Body and never stop loving God with all your heart, mind and soul, and loving others as yourself. Make that your creed.
It’s true, son: Be different and know everything you do matters. It’s what the Christ followers know: One man with God can change a culture. God didn’t put people in your path mostly for your convenience; He put you there for theirs. Loving the poor will make you rich, I promise.
to a hungry world, will you ever be satisfied.
The only life worth living is the one lost.
And no matter how loud and crazy and broken the world is, child?
Let joy live loud in your soul.
And believe that you are His beloved – it’s only when you trust
He loves you that you really begin to live. Really, count a thousand blessings more, never stop. Why wouldn’t you want joy?
Sing to no one and everyone on the front porch in the rain
and laugh so much they question your sanity.
Because really, none of us knows how long we have.

None of this is forever grace. That’s why it’s amazing grace.

This is what you always need to know:
You have nothing to prove to anyone – if you’re in Him,
you are already approved.
Be okay with not being liked: life’s about altars not applause.
And be okay with not being seen or heard. It’ll let you hear and see better.

"This parenting gig’s an experiment in radical grace and the work of every parent is to fully give to the child. And it’s the work of every child to fully forgive the parents. This is how it turns, the torch passing from one to the next."

Remember that we made meals and beds and mistakes and memories – and look hard for the good ones.  AHOLYEXPERIENCE

Christmas Break Fun~

This has been such a full month of fun things that I don't want to miss posting it..since this is my current method of scrapbooking right now :) The month started with our 21 year anniversary and although he was working in Cali, I did get some beautiful flowers and he got a basket of fruit..ha! He has no interest in flowers, candy or anything like that and he seriously loves fruit, so it was the best I could do :) When he came home for Christmas break, we were able to sneak away to the beach for a few days. PRICELESS~ We hurried home from that trip to celebrate our 20 YEAR OLD son's birthday..say what? How can that be!? We just got married..ha! It was perfect because my brother and sis n law had just gotten into town so we had a big family dinner together. Somewhere in between all of that I ran a half-marathon and Molly went to her last Christmas formal. It was a fun night of "CandyLand" theme party! Once my bro and sis arrived the week was filled with baking, eating, shopping, movies, playing games, celebrating my mom's bday by painting pottery together ending with Christmas Eve service in a barn, communion and a sleepover at mom and dad's! SUPER FUN! Dad read the Christmas story, we prayed together and dug into the presents! I am so beyond blessed by my family and sad to see the season end! I love it..all of it!

Thirteen~

My baby girl turned 13 last weekend!!
Her best friend's grandparents own this corn maze
and had this pumpkin waiting for her! Sweet!
Just a few of her awesome friends
She had invited a few guys but they
had football, I love that one guy, Noah,
still came...he said it was his dream
come true! haha!
After the haunted corn maze....that took 1 hour to go through!
Lunch with her bro and sis~

It was a fun weekend of celebration!
I love celebrating this girl,
she celebrates life everyday!
She is crazy, funny,
passionate, compassionate,
insightful, caring, self-confident,
loving, thoughtful, spontaneous,
and a lover of life..PERIOD!
I wrote this a few years ago...it's a little
story of her rough start in life and how
she came out FIGHTING!
She blesses me and the Lord has
used her to change and heal so much of me!

Week Recap~

Last week, Haley and I loaded up the car and headed 10 hours south to spend some time with Darren. Since school has not started for us, we thought we would squeeze in as much time with him as we could. Tim and Molly joined us a few days later. I love the area, the people at D's job, the school, the beach, the weather and I just love Cali period! He is in a little trailer right now, which is perfect for him, but our family of 5 feels like we are camping! God's provisions are endless and I could write several more posts to sum all that He has done for us regarding this job, the move, etc. I know we have quite a transition ahead of us, living away from Darren for awhile, but we feel that it is important for Molly to finish her senior year in OR. We are looking at an  adventure! ha! It will be exciting to watch God, once again provide in all the ways HE does so well! : )

We have been hanging out at the beach, trying new churches, checking out the huge outlet mall AND finding a new dentist to pull Haley's infected tooth! (never a dull moment with the Bart family)

ROAD TRIP! My obnoxious excitement on my way to see D.
My twins! ha!
SISTERS~

When God says do it,
He’s already
planned the resources
we need to accomplish the task.

Family Days~

my kiddos~
This picture turned out a little "wonky" from my phone,  but I just love these smiles! This was taken a few weeks ago when we took a road trip to Portland. We had planned on going for an all day bike trip on some awesome bike paths in the PDX area but it began to pour rain! So we walked the city in the rain, looking for thrift stores, used book stores and cute coffee shops!
Awesome day with the fam! ; )

A story that has God written all over it!
He is so faithful!
Just last week I wrote about this verse He led me to...
I am trusting that the Lord is "searching out places for us to camp and He will show us the way"
This little home is owned my a christian family
that is been waiting for someone to come along and
rent their home they have to leave for a job out of state!
They said the Lord told them awhile ago that
He has a specific family for this home..
It has alot of cute features and I'm so thankful
that we have a place to LIVE!!~
My favorite..(besides all of the fruit trees)
A HOT TUB~ Already ordered my bathing suit for the summer!

Busy Days for the Fam~

A few weeks ago Darren ran his first full marathon!
So proud of him! Like I said before, we just started running in
November and he has really worked hard
to get to this point by May!
I knew he would do great!
His 42 year old body took about
4 days to recover..crazy I know!
I feel like I'm still trying to recover
from the half marathon, LAST MONTH!
It was a fun day! I love the excitement
at marathons-cheering for strangers,
knowing that everyone worked hard to get there!
Hope we do more soon!

Darren just left to go pick up our boy from his
first year of college!! yay!
It was such an awesome year for him!
So proud of him too and so thankful
that God has provided this opportunity
to be a part of an incredible college and group of friends!
August 2010
Getting ready to say good-bye to Tim
and driving 1300 miles home!

~Beautiful Molly~
Jr/Sr Banquet~
Masquerade Ball
Best banquet ever~
(since I'm ONE of the jr class advisors, haha)

My baby went to Outdoor School
last week with the 6th grade!
It really does get harder to send your kids
off on trips! Once again, how did we get here
so fast!? She is usually my little buddy,
standing beside me as we wave good bye
to her brother and sister for trips like this!
She had a great time, of course! :)

Just a quick update on this family!
So much going on and it doesn't slow down anytime soon!
That's ok, it's the fun kind of busy! (minus moving, not fun)

Like Yesterday

This picture was taken in 1999
in Victorville, CA
It was a few weeks before Easter and
I had taken the kids to the mall for Sunday lunch.
For some reason Darren couldn't join us and it was
just me with the 3 kiddos.
I remember Timothy not really wanting
to be in the picture and saying something like,
"This should be a picture for the girls" ha!
He still gave me a sweet smile and played along
with his crazy mom making an 8 year old get his
picture taken with the Easter bunny!
I put this picture on facebook a few days ago
and debated weather I should tag him or not,
but I did..He made it his profile picture!
ha! I love that!

Sweet Memories!

*Off to a Saturday evening Easter service to celebrate
the risen Savior!
Then sunrise service with my family!
Missing my boy this Easter but he is
having an awesome weekend with my bro and sis
in LA! Thankful they are so close to him! BLESSING!

Thankful Heart

Tim and his friends are here this week for their spring break. When he told us he was bringing friend HERE for spring break, I was a little worried about "entertaining" them. Not that they would ever want ME, the mom, to entertain, but we live in a small town, not much to do and raining weather...and here come 3 college guys from San Diego! They have had the best week! We absolutely love these boys and I feel beyond grateful that Tim has found some amazing, solid, hilarious, grounded friends while away at college. Every mother's prayer!!! These boys seriously could move in with us, so polite, easy to have around and FUNNY...did I say that already!? It's been hard to go to work every day knowing they are home. Actually, one afternoon they brought lunch out to Tim's sister and then hung out with me in my office for a few hours..being loud..I mean just chatting with me.. ; )

A little shootin out at the farm with grandpa!

A little of their week!
I already miss them : (
SO VERY THANKFUL THEY CAME TO VISIT WITH THE FAM!

Beach/Snow/Ready for Spring!

On President's Day we headed to the beach
and enjoyed a little sun and clam chowder
bread bowls at none other than
"The Chowder Bowl" ha!
The beach was amazing, the sky was clear
and it felt good to get to the beach for the day!
It's rare to have a sunny day in Febraury at our coast :/

Three days later we had a snow day! What?
Again, rare for February around here.
It was nice to have yet another day off, unexpected.
The girls were outside playing in it quite early
but it only lasted about 20 minutes.

It's been a great Sunday at home,
working on homework and upcoming projects
and staying in pj's most of the day!
Haley made chocolate chip pancakes from
scratch for breakfast and then
fetticcuine alfredo for dinner! NICE!

Look who's coming home next week!!
Tim has spring break next week
and will be making a road trip
with 3 other guys to Oregon! YAY!
Can't wait!

Dreaming of this~
Spring break is 3 weeks away!
READY FOR SPRING/SUMMER!
Cute Kimonos ;)
