What's Your Aroma?

,

Darren preached on Mark 14:1-11 yesterday and it stirred my heart more than ever. We had many conversations about it throughout the week, so I knew the jist of what the sermon was going to be...But I had no idea I would walk away wondering what my aroma is to others? (Sidenote: I did get me some favorite Viva La  Juicy smelly stuff, finally, so my literal aroma is yummy) But that's not even close to what Jesus was referring to here. Check it out.....

"Opening the bottle, she poured it on his head.
Some of the guests became furious among themselves.
"That's criminal! A sheer waste! This perfume could have been sold for well over a year's wages and handed out to the poor."
They swelled up in anger, nearly bursting with indignation over her.
But Jesus said, "Let her alone. Why are you giving
her a hard time? She has just done something
wonderfully significant for me. You will have
the poor with you every day for the rest of your lives.
Whenever you feel like it, you can do something for them.
Not so with me. She did what she could when
 she could—she pre-anointed my body
for burial. And you can be sure that wherever
in the whole world the Message is preached,
what she just did is going to be
 talked about admiringly."  Mark 14:1-11

This broken woman, not having anything else to give, gave all that she had...she radiated the aroma of giving..extravagant giving. It says the guests became furious, possibly naive a bit, don't ya think? They didn't quite get the beautiful sacrifice that was made on the behalf of her Savior. She was so taken, so undone by Jesus, that she didn't think twice about pouring the entire of bottle of expensive perfume on him. Not just a drop or drizzle, although I think that would've blessed Him too, she gave it all! He wants our ALL, no hesitation and HE wants us to pour into others because we are HIS vessel! A vessel that has the AROMA of someone that has been in HIS presence! I love how Jesus speaks up on her behalf....Leave her alone, She has just done something wonderfully significant for me!!!!
What is your aroma?
Do you freely give extravagantly back to HIM?

~we ended with this~

Great post! I was thinking about it, and I kept thinking about what I want others to think my aroma is, not actually what my aroma truly is. Did that make sense?! Anyways...thanks girl!

Nice post :) I have never thought about what kind of "aroma" I might be wafting wherever I go . . .
