Goodbye School Year!

As I get older I realize the reality of the phrase "time flies" It seems I just wrote this post about the excitement of starting a new school year. It's time to take down the bulletin boards, clean out the desks and call it another year. It's been cool to look back at my journals the last 6-7 years and read what I have written the first day of school. So much anxiety goes into that day...no matter how many years are under your belt. This year has been amazing! What a blessed year I have had! Having my daughter in my class has been more fun than I would have ever thought. The added bonus was having her friends was awesome! Some of my closest friend's children were in my class. It was an easy year. No stress with behavior issues or challenges with parents! BLESSED, BLESSED, BLESSED this year! I will be extra sad to see this group move on : (
We have three days of school left and a long agenda!
A few days after school is out, we will be heading to California to my brother's wedding. I am so excited for this day that I can barely stand it! We have been shopping every spare minute to get the last details for the wedding. We are then heading to Arizona to visit D's family. We are looking for some melt your skin HOT weather...then back to CA for another wedding that Darren gets to perform... : ) Hoping to get some good days on the beach!

Sports are over, summer camps are on the calendar, my scrapbooking things are being dusted off and my pile of fun reading books is getting higher! CAN.NOT. WAIT for the lazy days of summer!

* D. surprised me with this thismorning

You Alone Are Good!
I've been listening to this song alot lately! The words are powerful...they sum up everything that my heart feels! It sums up our entire relationship we have with our Savior! I am weak, but by HIS power I am made strong, He is my portion, I want my heart to burn for more of HIM, HE is God alone, He carried the weight of the cross, to redeem ME!! My Hope stands renewed. I GIVE MY LIFE TO HONOR THIS, THE LOVE OF CHRIST, MY SAVIOR MY KING!!
Saviour King (Hillsong)
And now the weak say I have strength
By the spirit of power that raised
Christ from the dead
And now the poor stand and confess
That my portion is Him and I'm more than blessed
Let now our hearts burn with a flame
A fire consuming all for your
Son's holy name
And with the heavens we declare
You are our king
We love you Lord, we worship you
You are our God,
you alone are good
You asked your
Son to carry this
The heavy cross our weight of sin
I love you Lord, I worship you
Hope which was lost, now stands renewed
I give my life to honor this
The love of Christ, the savior king
Let now your church shine as the bride
That you soar in your heart as you offered up your life
Let now the lost be welcomed home
By the saved and redeemed those adopted as your own
I give my life to honor this
The love of Christ, the savior king
Childhood to Adulthood
A LIST of things I wish we carried over from childhood to adulthood:
- That I still got an allowance for doing chores
- That I still ate coco puffs every morning
- That I still climbed trees and had a tree house
- That I still had slumber parties
- That I still went roller skating every Friday night, ("All Skate, Change directions")
- That I still had "big bangs"
- That I still wore a fanny pack
- That I could still wear my fluorescent pink shorts
- That it was still cool to dress like a twin with your best friend
- Not being able to sleep on Christmas Eve
- Not being able to sleep the night before my birthday
- Eating poprocks!
- That I could still spend Saturdays playing ATARI
- That I still rocked at Skip-It
- That I could still buy a "pool pass" and go EVERYDAY, ALL DAY in the summer
- That I still had plastic streamers on my bike
- That I could still get lost in the Little House in the Prairie books (wishing I was Laura Ingalls)

Humble and Pray
Today is the National Day of Prayer and it was so amazing to listen to Focus on the Family the last two days and hear people across the nation pray with such passion! This morning my class spent extra time praying and writing out a prayer list in our journal. The ideas and prayer concerns they came up with were touching....(two of them being cloning and global warming....things I DO NOT teach in fourth grade ; ) It was a sweet time listening to these 9-10 year olds pray and seek God....the faith of young children!!!!
Here is a prayer for our President that I found on Susan's blog: What a responsibility we have to pray for this man that is leading our country. No matter what our political views are.....God is not on vacation, God has not turned His back on His people just because we have a President that we may not agree with....GOD is powerful and still in control and can even change hearts....wow..there's a thought...change the heart of our leader...hmmmm!
Prayer For Our President
Most High God, Blessed and Wonderful Savior, Ever-present Holy Spirit, Precious Lord, our Governor, Whose glory is in all the world, We commend this nation to your compassionate and merciful care As we are guided by you providence, may we dwell secure in your peace. Grant to the President of the United States, your wisdom and strength to know and to do your will. Fill the President with the love of truth and righteousness. Make him ever mindful of his call to serve this people in your fear. In the name of the Wonderful Father, Most Beloved And Precious Son, and Ever-present Holy Spirit upon whom we can rely. In Jesus name, Amen.

If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chron. 7:14

Empowered
Recently, more the ever, I have been keenly aware of the fact that I live a life that is lacking any evidence of the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT living in me. I read Galatians 5:20 over and realize that it is no longer me but Christ that lives in me…..through HIS Spirit! That thought has been consuming my days….am I living according to the Holy Spirit ALIVE in me!! The frustrations that I face, the hurt that others around me are facing and the pain of life’s unplanned circumstances is NEVER, EVER a surprise to HIM. I want to rest in that fact. When I have no idea what I am doing, where our time in serving HIM is heading, and even what our tomorrow may look like….instead of being left scared, hopeless and disillusioned, I am empowered, excited and waiting expectantly for HIM to do HIS work….because again today….I die to myself, so it is no longer I but Christ that lives in me!! Daily I say…”crucify that Lord” over and over and over until we are made complete in HIM!
What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we've been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you'll have it all—life healed and whole. 1 Peter 1:5

Love and Hope and Jewelry
Last September, my girls and I did a Race for the Cure walk with my parents. Ever since then, Haley has been so in tune to anything that is sold where a portion of the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research. We have had several conversations about people we know that have been affected by this terrible disease. She often asks questions about my grandma having the disease and how much more we know today because of organizations like Race for the Cure. Participating in that event last fall totally impacted her.
The other day I was cleaning out her backpack and found a flyer from Kay Jewelers...I think she had gotten out of the mail and threw it in her backpack after looking at it. Knowing that she would not "need" anything from that store, I threw it away, along with a pile of other useless papers. True to Haley's style, she dug it out of the trash and had it on the counter again by the next morning. She brought me that flyer and had circled a beautiful pink sapphire necklace called Journey of Love and Hope. It quite pretty. She told me that this necklace needed to be added to her early Christmas list and I need to go get it today before they ran out....and as she walked away, I heard her say..."Remember mom, anything that goes to breast cancer research is worth it, mom" That, my sweet daughter, is true. BUT asking for such pricey jewelry already tells me..this girl won't settle for anything but the best!
